The Retrofit Option
The P+B Power Engineering range of LV and MV switchgear retrofits are based upon the tried and tested ABB type VD4 vacuum circuit breaker unit.

Product Overview
These units are available in fully tested ratings of up to 4000A and 63kA at 12kV which when incorporated into the retrofit design make it possible to enhance the original design ratings. This is particularly useful in cases where the system fault levels have increased to the point where they exceed the original rating of the switchgear. By testing the retrofit unit whilst fitted into an original panel P+B Power Engineering is able to offer a certified design which meets the increased requirements therefore increasing operating reliability and safety.

Vacuum Technology
The use of Vacuum technology also provides a significant reduction in maintenance and reduces the environmental impact of the apparatus.

Switchgear Life Cycle
Switchgear is commonly designed for a life of some 30 years but un many installations this period has long since expired. By using a tested vacuum retrofit it is possible to extend this life by another 30 years without needing to disturb the fixed part of the installation. This can be carried out with minimal disruption to plant operations and with significant cost savings.
